Personal, subjective rankings with a short commentary.
Prior to Finnegans Wake, James Joyce wrote Ulysses. The epic novel centered on a day in the life of Dublin adman Leopold Bloom. In his “Modern Man” routine, George Carlin exposes and celebrates the absurdity of language debased by advertising and marketing. Like the Wake, it is a flood of language, at once nonsensical and visionary.
