L7

I first heard L7 on the Natural Born Killers soundtrack. Set against the slowly decaying orbit of ’90s grunge, L7 filled a void once inhabited by Nirvana. In retrospect, L7 occupies a more rarefied air. Vulgar, raw, and unrefined in its sound, they tread the same furious headspace as Jesus Lizard, Butthole Surfers, and Mudhoney. Noisy, angry, and jagged, L7 is like Mother Nature: all teeth and claws.
