Sorry, it’s been a while. It has been over two months since I’ve posted a review. Prior to this temporary hiatus, my wife and I went to CONvergence in Bloomington, Minnesota. It was a little bittersweet, since it was the last time the event would be at the Sheraton DoubleTree hotel. Next year the science fiction convention will take place in downtown Minneapolis in the heart of the university district.
I got a bad case of con crud and the second half of my vacation – a week by the lake in northern Wisconsin – involved dealing with a nasty summer cold. But the peace and quiet was nice.
American Odd is in its final stages. The last steps involving assembling a bibliography. Technical and tedious, it should complement the essays. Then I will send it off to the Chicago Center for Literature and Photography (CCLaP) for further editorial polish. I will keep you updated on a possible release date.
My greatest task will involve me winnowing down my giant book review backlog. I am working to lessen the load by creating a series of “Weeks” based on a specific theme (poetry, photography, literature in translation, a specific publisher, etc.).
And the Driftless Area Review has a new look! Like or dislike? Let me know in the comments. How does it look on your laptop or your phone?
